My mom came down from UT for a visit end of Dec, beginning of Jan. We had a lot of fun.
Mom and I babysat for Rob and Sheri the first night she was here while they celebrated their 12 year wedding anniversary.
We went to lunch with my Aunt Nancy, Uncle Larry, cousin, Lori, and her son, Robby. I haven't seen them for a while, so it was nice to catch up. While we were at lunch, Rob's suburban was towed. We decided that the coffee shop across from where we ate and the towing company had a scam going on. It was super lame. I tried to boycott the city (Tempe) but ended up going there more in January than I have the entire two years I've lived here before. I guess the boycott wasn't meant to be...
While my mom was here, we also went up north to see Montezuma's Well, Montezuma's Castle, and Tuzigoot. It was everyone's first time going to these great places, except me - I had been to the well and the castle before. It was a big hit. I brought the dogs - Max and Pinecone - and Rob's two oldest took turns walking them. They had fun with the dogs and did really well with them.
First stop was the well:
Next stop, the castle:
The plan was to hit a ghost town or two on the way back south, but the instructions I got off the internet were bad and we never found it. We traversed a "primitive" (bumpy, dirt) road for about 20 miles. I kept thinking we my have found it, but then realized people were still living in the houses we found.
It wasn't a total loss, tough. We found a phallic looking saguaro with a Santa hat on it...
Maybe we can find the ghost towns next time.
