Doug's at it Again

I flew into Boise in the afternoon on Friday, the 7th. My dad and his, then fiance, Dorothy, picked me up. Because I was with my dad, I knew it wouldn't be long before we went to his land. Sure enough, that was the first thing we did.

I was glad to see the resident kitty, Shadow, was doing well. She was just as cute and friendly as ever.

Here's a shot of the soon-to-bes - doesn't the broom just fit Doug?

After the land, Dorothy and I met her family at the church to start setting up for the reception. A few hours later, I went over to my old school pal, Adam Harris', house to visit with him and his family. It was so nice to see them and catch up. It has been way too long - about a decade or maybe more. But they were still the same great people I remembered.

I visited with them until late and then had to drive back to Kuna to my dad's place for the night. I was sad because I thought Porter would be long since asleep when I got there. To his parents' dismay, quite the opposite was true.

He was so wired. I would be lying if I said I wasn't happy that he was still awake. It had been almost 6 months since I had seen them and I missed him so much. I was even more pleasantly surprised that he remembered me. We didn't even miss a beat. It was like we haven't been apart. What a cutie-pie!

The next day was the big one for "Doug 'n' Dot".

The bride's side

The groom's side

Hee hee. Doug had a couple more people there on his side, but that's how the seating ended up and I thought it was funny.

Dorothy's son, Jared, walked her down the "isle" which I thought was cute.

Her grandson held her bouquet during the ceremony.

Porter was so tired from not sleeping much at all the night before, but was such a good boy through the ceremony.

Even though he was sad.

She actually said, "I do" which was a relief!

Then we congratulated them.

Dorothy's kids

After the wedding, we went to the Harris' to get Adam - yeah, I made him come to the reception with us. They met Emily and Porter for the first time. I am pretty sure they were a hit. We visited again with them and then headed over to the reception.

And they're off.

I love my cute sister!

We took some pics with some of Dorothy's grand daughters. They were so cute!

Even though it was late and we had all had a really long day, Paul and Emily came with me to visit Doug's ex-wife, Kathleen. I was so glad they came, even though Paul and Adam were really thirsty from the pretzels before we even stepped in - sorry, inside joke. We missed her daughter, Kristen, and her husband and baby, but we got to see her new, amazing home and her husband and Megan. Oh, and her new dog! Which is a Lhasa-poo-schnau-jack... or something like that. I think he's a Lhasa Apso, Poodle, Jack Russel Terrier, and Schnauzer mix. He was part of an "oops" litter, but he's absolutely ADORABLE! His name is Oliver. He's so sweet.

Kathleen took us through her new house. It is such a nice place! And she seems so happy. I could not be happier for her. She put up pictures of Paul and I just like she had up when she was married to my dad. It made me cry. I love that she still welcomes us into her family.

I didn't make it out to Weiser to see my Kathleen, which was sad. But it was nice to see the friends and family I was able to.

Congrats to my dad and his new wife.
