I've Got Good News and Bad News

I always tell Dillon this when I have to tell him something he won't like. The good news is always that I love him. I like to think that softens the blow of the bad news. You'd have to talk to him for the truth of the matter though.

Our second biggest loser competition is over, and we did the results today. There were three prizes this time for the top three contestants. I got 4th. Bah! I might as well have gotten 11th.
The good news? I lost 8.8 lbs in the 14 weeks. Wow! That was so slow! Even better? Between the last weigh-in of the last contest and the first weigh-in of the current, I lost 5 more lbs. Are you kidding me?!?! I have brilliant timing.

I think the explanation for the sudden drop is that I haven't run for a while. I can't fully understand it, but when I am running I am maintaining or losing very slowly. When I stop running, the lbs and inches start falling off - fast.

I know what you're thinking, "Duh, Cerra. It's muscle." But I don't think that's all it. I am sure it's a factor. Possibly a large factor, but I think there's something else going on as well. I mean, how much muscle can I possibly gain? You would think there would be a point I would reach that I stopped building more muscle, and therefore, started dropping weight more quickly again. But I can't seem to reach that while running. I have a theory that I eat more while running, so my net calorie loss is less than it is when I am not. I am not convinced that is it either though. I just don't know.

I don't mind the cycle though because when I start running again, I don't gain weight, and when I stop, it starts dropping like mad again. I ran the entire last contest until I hurt my knee. I think I will chill on running the rest of this month and just really focus on my diet and eating right and see where I am come March.

I do love running though. My resting heart rate is now the lowest I've ever tracked it. Oh well. This will be a good way to ensure that my knee is back in top condition before I start again.
