You Decide

I want to ask you about Body Worlds. For those of you who don't know, basically peoples' bodies are donated, skinned, "plastinated," formed/posed, and, some parts, cross-sectioned. Then the bodies are shown off in exhibits.

So I ask you - is this fascinating or disgusting? art or demented?

It is quite amazing really. There are a couple of people where I work who have gone to the exhibit. Their accounts of the experience makes one realize that this truly is one of those times when, "you had to be there" to really appreciate the depth of the experience. Somehow reading about it just doesn't cut it.

I understand that the process to first preserve then dissect these bodies is rather lengthy and complicated. Who, (or what kind of person), thinks of this stuff anyway!

We actually have a 6 inch card stock cut out of the 1st picture you have posted hanging at our nurses station. I got tired of looking at his reproductive organs and put a pair of cut off jeans on him. This was well received and he hangs at our nurses station still :)

Wow, that was disturbing. I was okay until the pregnant woman with the baby in the womb. Freaky. I don't want my body used for that!

I went to the exhibit and was amazed, astounded and so grateful for the human body. I think you would love it. It's truly incredible.
